Singapore's kopi culture dates back to the 19th century and the influx of immigrants who came to work at this busy trading post. Locals opened coffee shops to satisfy the European workers, the cultures mingling and the tastes morphing.

As time goes by, Coffee Shop Culture become part of Singaporean daily life, as it downsize by 1/6 of the original Hawker Centre, make it easier to be located at any HDB neighborhood,

it bring more convenient and cover more neighboring estates as built of Hawker Centre required a lot of times but instead coffee shop can easily build under block.

An economy rice meal is usually one of the cheapest options available for a meal at a hawker centre (hence its name), especially if one is judicious in choosing the less expensive dishes (generally vegetables, tofu, meat & seafood).

A Hokkien (Southern Chinese dialect) expression that directly translates to “cook and fry”, zi char is a term used to describe dishes influenced by home-cooked Chinese food, meant for sharing. They served in Larger or Family portion, more suitable for bigger group. They usually only open during the evening or night time.

They usually served less expensive seafood compare to the restaurants, which make it less costly and more affordable for neighborhood family.

Another type is Food Junction, it is in air-condition, which is very cooling and chill to visit as Singapore are very hot. With new coffee shop concept and innovation, it make it more interesting but the only different is that pricing are slightly more expensive.
